L'Algerino in Italia

Una tragedia giocosa in due atti

The young Flemish composer Joris Blanckaert has written a chamber opera based on Rossini's "L'Italiana in Algeri". The clichéd representation by Rossini of life at the court of Sultan Mustafa, is now revived in the parody of a rich Italian widow falling in love with her Algerian gardener.
