InAlto
Crecquillon, Lassus, Monteverdi & Josquin des Prez
Two love stories that are also tales of loss and remembrance. In a musical fresco spanning two centuries, InAlto recount these stories to music by Crécquillon, di Lasso, Monteverdi, and des Prez. After the tragic death of his wife in childbirth, the grief-stricken Charles V commissioned Titian and Thomas Crécquillon to create posthumous portraits on canvas and in music. About how a longing for a reminder can crystallise loss into timeless beauty.
With music by:
Thomas Crécquillon (ca. 1505 – ca. 1557)
Orlandus Lassus (ca. 1532 – 1594)
Josquin des Prez (ca. 1450 – 1521)
Claudio Monteverdi (1567 – 1643)
