Jonatan Alvarado & Ariel Abramovich
Huehuetenango Songbook
Early music, this time from South America. The Latin American Music Library is home to a unique collection of polyphonic music and Gregorian chants from Huehuetenango, in northern Guatemala. Compiled between 1582 and 1635, this collection is an indispensable reference work for those who wish to understand the complex and mysterious way European music manifested itself via the minds, hands, and voices of the indigenous people. Along with guitarist Ariel Abramovich on vihuela, tenor Jonatan Alvarado performs a selection from this collection.
