Postscript & Elisabeth Hetherington
Händel, Purcell, Strozzi & Saariaho
The Postscript Ensemble and soprano Elisabeth Hetherington explore the voice of rejected women throughout the ages. Inspired by Anne Sexton’s famous poem Her Kind, they perform music by Handel, Purcell, Strozzi, Saariaho, and Fadael, interwoven with electroacoustic interludes by Tatiana Rosa. Baroque portraits of Alcina, Armide and Medea reflect modern insights into madness, psychological fault lines and femininity. Hetherington and the Postscript Ensemble thus create a dramatic and poignant journey through centuries of female experiences.
With music by:
Georg Friedrich Händel (1685 – 1759)
Henry Purcell (1659 – 1695)
