Pseudonym
17th Century Italian Sonatas
Pseudonym – the new ensemble featuring Gabriel Smallwood, third laureate of the MA Competition for Harpsichord 2023 and flautist Liane Sadler, heard in Schuur Ter Doest last summer bring us Italian music from the early 17th century. They explore the practice of composers such as Castello, Marini, and Merula, who invited musicians to perform the repertoire using a variety of instruments and in mixed consort settings. Pseudonym bring the unique and rich timbres this practice creates back to vibrant life.
