MA Competition
MA Festival 2026 hosting a new edition of the MA Competition for Harpsichord!
The MA Competition – launched in 1964 – has developed into a prestigious international music competition and an unparalleled pool of talent. Aimed at discovering new stars and facilitating fresh encounters, it is a unique platform for the training and professional integration of up-and-coming young artists. Its unique¬ness is rooted in its home at the heart of the MA Festival. The MA Competition has boosted the international careers of numerous now renowned musicians, among them Christophe Rousset (°1961), Kristian Bezuidenhout (°1979), Dmitry Sinkovsky (°1980), Jean Rondeau (°1991) and Justin Taylor (°1992).
The first round of the competition will be broadcast digitally during the weekend of 15 – 17 May. At the end of this weekend, the jury will select 12 harpsichordists, who will travel to Bruges for the MA Festival.
An international jury
The jury members for this edition are Korneel Bernolet (chair), Richard Egarr, Béatrice Martin, Mitzi Meyerson, and Jean Rondeau.
Semifinal
Twelve candidates were selected during the digital first round of the competition in May. They have now travelled to Bruges and will be proving their great talent once again in today’s semifinal. Enjoy their performances free of charge in Concertgebouw Brugge’s Chamber Music Hall.
It is possible to enter or leave the hall between the different candidates.
The ceremony is at 22:00.
